
I suggest you approach your parents by asking if they would consider it if you had the proper gear and a safe place to ride (with supervision, of course). Do some research on safety gear and show them you are trying to be responsible. And, if they agree, do not break their trust by neglecting to wear the gear and not following the rules.
Last suggestion – try to find a place where you can pay to ride a dirt bike in a controlled environment. Maybe you can test out your skills and improve your confidence as well as show your parents you can handle it.
Don't forget that even with all that, your parents still have the right to keep you from doing ANY activity that they don't approve of (for safety or personal reasons). I know it is hard for you to understand the fear of your parents, but it is not a nice feeling. We parents don't like additional reasons to worry about our kids. So, if they say no, ask again in a year or two.
