I saw a dirtbike called the factory TXM on ebay and was wondering if anyone knew if these were good bikes that will last or a waste of money?

Check the craigslist for your area i always see dirt bikes for a couple hundred. http://www.craigslist.com/
I want to get a dirt-jump mountain bike but dont know what to get. I want to spend $800 approx.

DO NOT get a Mountain bike if you wish to do a lot of jumping. A BMX 20" wheel bike is better. Of course, you can jump a Mtn Bike (MB) but you are risking quite a bit of damage. The larger wheels of a MB are more at risk for damage. Plus the gear system will give your problems. Stuff like "chain slap" or just the chain coming off from the impact of landing.Worse damaging derailleurs and such during any crashes.
Unless your are a very experienced rider Don't plan on using a MB for a "jump bike", you'll spend more $$$ fixing it than what the bike costs.
I've seen this kind of thing happen before when I worked at a bike shop. Use a MB for cross county off road riding and get yourself a BMX 20" wheel bike, with lots of spokes, for jumping. It will be cheaper in the long run.

Plus as far as MB's go I like good steel frames, full Cromoly.
They're cheaper and steel is twice as strong as anything else in your price range. Plus a steel frame MB will usually always have better parts on it than a aluminum frame MB. And for jumping wide rims for either BMX or MB's.

Finally. Change your handle bar to a very strong heat treated one, even on a new bike. DON"T be cheap here! If that thing brakes on landing… OUCH! … and prepare for major dentist bills. Lots of jumping, change handlebar every year.

K so i need 2 dirt jumpers im not allowed exeeding 1200$ together for both. So what i want is a cross country or dirt jumper.

so could u plz post the kind of bike, weight

ie.20lbs or so,30lbs or so ect.

and ups and downs like- its a light ride but suspension suks

Scott has some cheap ones, decent frames but mediocre components. stay away from rockshox and suntour front suspension. Marzochi is the standard and the best. with the "DJ 2" being a great fork. Not the best, not their low end either. In that price range, your best bang for the buck is either a Giant STP, Cannondale Chase (what i ride, no complaints whatsoever) and a Specialized P-series.
Need a little advice… seems everyone i talk to tells a diffrent story. i'm looking for a dirt bike. i will be using it to play arround in forestry, dunes, trails etc. i'm not looking to race, but it'd be nice to gas it and hit a jump. i'm only looking to spend about $1500.00 as this is my first bike and i'd hate to lay down a $5k machine. i'm looking at the 250's. i am undecided as to 2 vs 4 stroke and model. it seems hard to find a 4 stroke in my price range. i dont mind maintenence but i don't want to have to deal with adjustments while i'm on the trail. i just want a good bike i can play with… one that wont make me wish i had bought a diffrent or better one right away. weight range of the rider will be 160 lbs. the hardest part of selecting is that i have only ridden about 1 hour on a bike so i cannot got out test driving bikes as i wouldnt know what to look for.any non bias input would be great!

Honestly you will have to look around and ask individuals or sales people. i had in the past a 2 stroke honda cr125, i loved it, now i have a 4 stroke suzuki dr250. basically a street legal dirt bike, it doesnt seem to have as much power as my 125 did but it does have equal power throughout the rpm range where as my 125 only had great power in high rpms during the powerband, all and all if it is trail riding and a little motocross and you want something cheap and easy to work on i would go with a 2 stroke, top end rebuilds are very easy to do, and there are plenty of shops around the country that work on 2 and 4 stroke motors. good luck!!
I have never been on a dirt bike and am wondering what bike i should get. I want a cheap good quality bike. Will a 250cc be too big for me? What are Atomik prox 200cc or PitPro 250cc like are they real bikes or kids bikes, their price was so cheap i wasnt sure. Also i would prefer to get a kawasaki do they have any cheap dirt bikes? i also plan on getting a kawasaki ninja gpx250r later down the road, wanted to do a whole kawasaki thing. Will be grateful for any info you can provide.

Firstly, any dirt bike will probobly be too tall for you at 5'2" as they have lots of clearance, but then dirt bikes are light as buggery in the 125 to 450 cc range so if you can reach the ground, it should be allright. those pit bikes or pocket rocket bikes are for kids (i wouldn't let my kids on though). they are a toy and are useless for anything. you cant register them, they cant handle real rough stuff and they are shockingly built and engineered

secondly, gpx250r's are road bikes, and would be perfect for you. I am 6'4" and 130kg and it even handles me (but it looks like cruelty to small motorbikes)

I want to get a little 50cc dirt bike but im not sure which one to get. i was looking at the suzuki drz70, yamaha ttr50 or the honda crf50. which one is a better and faster bike? i know the drz is a 70 cc but it is the same size as the 50cc. so which one is faster and just a better little dirt bike ???

With the information you gave us, I would recommend that you get a 2300cc Triumph Rocket III and take it slow for a couple of weeks until you get used to 140 horses and 140 ft lbs torque.
Not really.
It sounds like you might be a beginning rider. There are lots of clones from China these days. Cheap simple bikes from the 1970's. Good bikes to learn on, crash, bang into things and sell even cheaper when you step up to bigger and faster.(and more dangerous).
Are you ready for faster? A neat little honda 50 is a lot of fun to slide around in wet grass and dangerous enough for a beginner. You will probably out grow it quickly but there are lots of friends who will see you having fun and will probably want to buy it to learn on unless you let them ride. Just tell them you can't let them ride it because of liability issues and tell them that they can buy it.
If you like riding, go for the bigger stuff but always keep in mind, this is a dangerous sport and you can get killed if you don't understand the risks like wet leaves and gravel and greasy strips in the middle of the road in a light rain.
Good luck, have fun.
I dont have much money but if you wanna trade for a 2001 honda xr 70 let me know.

Sometimes autozone will have their dirtbikes on sale for a cheap price.
I am leaning towards suzuki , but i’ve always wanted a KTM
Dirt bikes

Honestly it depends on what you want, whether you like to go fast, KTM whether you want a small bike, a pitstar whether you want a powerband kick, honda, whether you want looks and handling kawasaki, i am personally a big honda fan, the parts are cheap and easy to repair.
I have a 15 years old son and he want to ride. So i was looking at some dirt bikes but they are expensive. I was just wondering where i can find a cheap maybe used dirt bike.

Plan to spend about 1500.00 +/- to get something that will last hold value and be reliable. You will need to buy a Major brand like Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki. Dint by imported stuff from China. If he is going to trail ride then look at the Honda CRF150F not (R) or the Yamaha TTR 125.
If he plans to try and track ride you will be looking at the 85cc 150R or 250F lines ( depending on his size and skill level)
Always by the newest year that you can afford. You may want to look for something for yourself to. Its great family fun, and a very positive.
