I went to a motorcycle / offroad / speed boat dealership. I was looking at the dirt bike. I am 5'10 or 5'11 weighing in at 150-160 pounds (might lose weight during football season).

Now I want a dirt bike to ride around a forrest preserve next to my house and just to ride around, not racing or to do jumps / tricks with.

The sales man recommended the CRF150F to me and said for my body it will fit me like a glove. I sat on it, felt pretty good. Do you guys recommend that bike for me?

The dealer said they are reliable and it would cost me about $4,000 with tax. Now as a first bike should I buy it new, or used. Should I asked for used bikes and would other stores sell used or purely new.
woops, wrong topic sorry. Please still answer if you can help though!

That is a really good bike but I would not suggest getting a brand new bike for your first one. I have been riding for a while and have learned there are two kinds of riders, the ones that have crashed and the ones that are going to. I would suggest getting one that is a few years old just because you will go down at least once and most likely the first time it is on your first bike.
I’m going to be getting a dirt bike sometime in the next month or so, and was wondering what you think would be good for me to get? im 5′ 6″ , 110lbs. i have rode a dirt bike before my friends XR70 and DRZ110,(kinda small) my friend taught me to ride , i did do a little jumping but nothin extreme.

A 110 is kind of small I agree you’ll want something that you can learn with and also grow wih being you’re already 12 years old I recomend a yamaha ttr 125, or a honda crf150. Both these are great beginner bikes and good for jumping or just riding around. My 13 year old nephew has a ttr 125 and loves it, he’s smaller in size and can handle it very well. Yamaha makes great everything, I love all their 4 stroke stuff and i’m mostly a suzuki fan, I would say yamaha is the leader in 4 strokes and makes the best around. The honda crf150 is a great bike also, a little more power than the ttr125 but not any heavier and will grow with you forever, i’m an adult rider and would be comfortable on a crf150 for just riding around. Take a look at these two bikes and ask dealers some questions even if you don’t buy from them it’s good to ask the pro’s they’ll be able to answer anything else that we can’t on here.
Yea i just want a piece of crap to ride on. like a doodle bug, pocket bike, super bike, or a dirt bike. Also i already know minipocketrockets.com and some other ones. I live in the bay area of california like san jose. It would be great to find a dealership for pocket bikes to dirt bikes and stuff.
I hate EBAY except for somethings.

Go to a local automotive swap meet if you want to find one cheap
used gas ones go for around $200

I cherish my precious head but unfortunatly my passion for bikes outways my budget. when i bought my bike used for a steal i got a helmet thrown in with the deal. thats probably about as good as you can get it. besides that dealers will usually put together a package (not so top of the line gear thrown together for about a 100/200 price) good helmets will cost you 200/300 dollars alone. so my advice - tuck and roll! :)
I got a 2004 kx250. 2 stroke, so it has reeds in the intake.
When my bke is wide open, either in 5 gear pinned, or wide open on a turn in 2nd.. when I let go of throttle, it hear like a suction noise. and some times, while I don;t even move throttle.
I was told maybe my problem.

Replacing the reeds will ALWAYS help the performance of any 2 stroke machine, espesially if you have never replaced them before.
Take off your exhaust pipe and inspect the piston and the rings. You will be able to see the piston and the rings with a flashlight, the take off the intake, where the reeds go, and inspect the piston that way as well, you may need a new top end. As far as the sucking noise goes, it may be jetting, a partially blow ring, or bad reeds. Spend the money and get it all done at once. But do not buy stock reeds from a dealership, instead ask for Boyesen racing reeds, the last longer, and are half the price….
Im 5'3 5'4 150 lbs and im looking for a dirt bike….2 stroke or 4 stroke? and i want a fast bike that will last me and wont break down every 5 minutes…. WHATS THE BEST DIRT BIKE FOR ME!?!?!?!?!?!??!!??!
Dirt bikes

For reliability get a four stroke. The brand doesn't make much difference. All of the major motorcycle companies make excellent bikes. I would consider what dealers are near you and which of them has a good reputation in their service department.
I'm looking to buy a dirt bike for the first time, but I'm not sure what kind I should buy or what I should pay for it. I would like to know what you think a good dirt bike is and how much you think I should buy it for.
PS:I'm looking for something that I can take off road and play with not a super fast racing bike.

- Shop around. Go to the cycle shops and check out what the latest models and last year's models are going for. Compare.

- Pick up Dirt Rider magazine. They always have a classifieds section and reviews of products and bikes, check out what they say are some good deals.

- Peruse your Sunday paper. People often sell second-hand dirtbikes in the paper, check that out. Make some calls and see what people have to offer.

- Hang out at your local track. People are ALWAYS bringing excess bikes to the track and setting them up with For Sale signs. Those guys know their stuff too so they will usually ask a fair price.

- Make sure you do your research. Talk to the gys at your local dealers and have them make suggestions for you. They can recommend bikes for the way you ride or tell you about features you might look for. That way when you DO find somehting for sale, you know what you're looking for and what to ask.

- Lastly, check out this website for tips, tricks and an online marketplace.

Good luck!

I was also looking for aftermarket parts.

Probably cant fit plastics from the 2007 model on it, but you may be able to find newer plastics that are not an exact fit but will go on with a bit of a tug. what you can do, is buy a new decal kit and trim the decals to fit the old plastics, if the old plastics are still around.. this can be solved be dealership really easily if you call them and give them the serial number on the frame and maybe the engine as they will have a list of all the fitting plastic parts. good luck hunting them down. go to www.chaparral-racing.com for aftermarket parts. they have almost anything.
I'm about to buy a dirt bike from a company called "panda".
i've never heard of that but the dude says that its a copy of honda. will it last or is it crappy.
i'm getting a 110.
but its only 500 dollars brand new.
i'm pretty sure he said panda but it might have been somethign else that sounded like panda..
i just want it to not break down.

First of all theres probably a good reason you havent heard of it
its because these china bikes come with so many different names so many different designs that well .. you can never track down a manifacture or dealership to get parts for them when they break
just an example of how many diff names they slap on them to keep you from finding a real manufacturer
here we have the (speed) 110
http://www.guiamotera.com/minimotos/fotos/dirt_bike_110_eco/dirt_bike_110_eco-1.jpg
and here is the eagle? .. not sure what it says
http://www.motorxtremes.com/images/newprod_pics/110dirt_bike.png
and then the nameless
http://img.alibaba.com/photo/50229413/Alloy_Dirt_Bike.jpg
and the ..defiant? ..
http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/202492920/Dirt_Bike_HC_119C_dirt_bike.html

see a pattern?..

its a 110 .. and im sure ur thinking hey a honda cr125 is a big bike this is only a few ccs smaller
no….
this bike is considerd a pit bike suitable for 5 yearolds to break before they move up to a real bike

it just depends what its worth to you… if you know how to work on them .. and feel like a pain in the neck
go for it
if you want to wait for a good deal or spend a few extra dollars on a used name brand bike .. well that would be a better idea
check out ebay/ craigslist the local classifieds/news paper

yes its a copy of honda but .. the machine work, cast work, grade of metal ect ect is all a little different .. soooo …. if they cant make a product they canstand behind enough to put a straight brand name make and model .. then im not going to trust it

get a name brand jap bike, suzuki kawasaki yamaha honda ktm anything with one of these names on it .. will be a pretty dependable bike

I would like to find a used dirt bike (my first dirtbike), didnt know if there was a website or something that i could find one local and that is trustwerthy.

I wouldn't buy off the internet, instead i would check yellow pages for a dealership. If you live in SW united states, there is a magazine called cycletrader or you can use cycletrader.com
