Only if you think guys like McGrath, Cooper, Carmichael, Stewart and Gosselaar are still babies!

Tons of adult pros race and ride minis. The minimoto nationals in vegas actually give out a #1 Pro AMA plate to the winner of the pro class. Big money and big fun on little bikes.

Electric start.
We bought my grandson a dirt bike and I was wondering if anyone has ever tranported one on the back of the car on one of those platform things that you put in the trailer hitch?
Dirt bikes

The trailer hitch is the strongest type of on car transport. Ask this question in Cars & Transportation — Motorcycles for more experienced answers — this is actually the section for Bicycles.
Merry Christmas.
My son has been been riding a pedal bike without training wheels since he was three. He has a Honda PW50. We have a helmet and riding pants although the riding pants are getting small as well as elbow pads and shin guards. At this point he is not out riding on trails mostly around the dirt and gravel parking lot or fields. He wore down the rubber on a pair of boots this last weekend they were not riding boots.

Most sites that sell online have gear for small kids. Btosports.com has a range and also a sizing chart that would be helpful.

Make sure you spend the money on a pair of proper mx boots as I have seen some very nasty burns from kids not wearing the right gear. They only have to drop the bike and be pinned under it.

Ok my son was riding his dirt bike and yes ofcorse all the gear to go with it. helmet, boots, chest protector, exct…anyway he competes in races so he was getting ready for the next race just to get pratice in at a local trail that we go to everyweekend, well he decided to put out a 3' bike ramp and jump it mind. you he is 7. awesome rider but still 7.so before i could explain to him and how to do it he had started to go for it but full throtal-jumped it got about 6 feet of air, then flipped over and over and over again with the bike landing on top of him in the end.at first he was crying call 911 we did not move him so we waited then we cut his clothes off to see the injurys . his groin got a pretty bad blow, and he's brused up .he is complaing that his tail bone hurts.he is able to walk but slowly . he is terrified of the hospital or i would take him. he is alert but seem to have the chills, just wondering if anyone knows signs i should look for when i can't see the injury-thanks mom

Get him to the hospital!! I'd call 911 if your not close to hospital. He could be showing s/s of shock, and the bad thing is kids compensate so well for shock thats it often overlooked early. Then they crash and it's too late. Scared or not he needs to be checked for internal bleeding!

Honda CR 250 or Yamaha YZ 250. Normally I would say that a 250 would be too big for a 15yo, but you are a big boy with 8 years of experience. So a 250 should be OK. Go get one and show the other kids what you can do.
I have never been on a dirt bike and am wondering what bike i should get. I want a cheap good quality bike. Will a 250cc be too big for me? What are Atomik prox 200cc or PitPro 250cc like are they real bikes or kids bikes, their price was so cheap i wasnt sure. Also i would prefer to get a kawasaki do they have any cheap dirt bikes? i also plan on getting a kawasaki ninja gpx250r later down the road, wanted to do a whole kawasaki thing. Will be grateful for any info you can provide.

Firstly, any dirt bike will probobly be too tall for you at 5'2" as they have lots of clearance, but then dirt bikes are light as buggery in the 125 to 450 cc range so if you can reach the ground, it should be allright. those pit bikes or pocket rocket bikes are for kids (i wouldn't let my kids on though). they are a toy and are useless for anything. you cant register them, they cant handle real rough stuff and they are shockingly built and engineered

secondly, gpx250r's are road bikes, and would be perfect for you. I am 6'4" and 130kg and it even handles me (but it looks like cruelty to small motorbikes)

Im 12 years old and coming up on my 13th birthday, and ive been asking my parents for a dirt bike but they always tell me some story of someone who has died , but then i say more people die in car crashes does that make you not want to drive, so if someone can give me some advice id really be thankful

I rode a dirt bike at ages 12 and 13 (I'm a 40-year-old woman). But if you want to ride, you must first have all the proper safety equipment AND a safe area to ride. Dirt bikes should not be on streets in neighborhoods, and ideally should be driven in a wide open space or a track made specifically for dirt bikes.

I suggest you approach your parents by asking if they would consider it if you had the proper gear and a safe place to ride (with supervision, of course). Do some research on safety gear and show them you are trying to be responsible. And, if they agree, do not break their trust by neglecting to wear the gear and not following the rules.

Last suggestion – try to find a place where you can pay to ride a dirt bike in a controlled environment. Maybe you can test out your skills and improve your confidence as well as show your parents you can handle it.

Don't forget that even with all that, your parents still have the right to keep you from doing ANY activity that they don't approve of (for safety or personal reasons). I know it is hard for you to understand the fear of your parents, but it is not a nice feeling. We parents don't like additional reasons to worry about our kids. So, if they say no, ask again in a year or two.

Good luck!

Dirt bikes

MSF, the Motorcycle Safety Foundation that does a lot of bike instruction clinics, has one specifically designed for dirt bikes, and kids are usually the ones that take those courses.

Look to see if they offer this class anywhere near your location. Maybe you could get your parents to pay for it and come out and watch you take the course under responsible instruction, and then MAYBE they would let you get a dirt bike.

Even if they don't, you would still have a fun weekend learning to ride a dirt bike!

P.S. You probably won't "convince" them on your own no matter how hard you try. The only way to really change their mind is for them to talk to other responsible parents who let their kids ride dirt bikes, and to let them see in person kids who ride (fairly) responsibly. The MSF course would be a good place to do that.

P.S.S. It is dangerous, and you just might break some bones someday doing it. But dirt riding is pretty safe in terms of motorcycle riding in general, because there are no cars on the track to hit you, and landing on dirt is easier on the body than landing on pavement.
