What dirt bike is better off road or motor cross?
Dirt bikes

Pretty broad question…

there are varying different bikes designed for all different types of dirt event…

the KTM EXC / MXC / XC and yamaha WR / YZF & honda CRF both of the later with certain mods, are all great enduro, harescrambles, cross country, desert bikes.

the top 4 Jap (Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki) and KTM pretty much dominate both SX & MX.

then there are others like the big Honda XR and the big bore KTM 525 that are more dominating in the desert & higher speed events.

then just fun trails type bikes include the Suzuki DRZ, Honda XR 200/250/400, Kawasaki KLX,

What do you suggest? i tought my self to drivw stick in a day so i dont think learning to ride will be a problem. i live in tucson so if anyone can tell me what would be the best shop to go to it would be apprechated.

A duel sport bike is a great way to start, the 450cc plus bikes are fine on the freeway and decent in the dirt. The 250s are fine for around town but a little small for extended high speed. The bikes are light and agile and don't get damaged so bad if you lay one down and you learn alot by riding off road…and it's fun.

The Japanese bikes are all good, the KTM and BMW are awesome but expensive.

Does anyone know if there are dirt bike trails in austria.

I would sure hope so. KTM bikes is the leading manufacturer of off road and trial motorcycles and is headquartered in Austria. One would think that they have a reason for being the number one.

There is also an annual international hill climb competition in Austria that draws crowds of thousands of people.

I'm an absolute beginner(hoping to overcome that phrase soon) and I would love to get into off roading/motocross and I have no idea where to start. I'm 5'10" and weigh approx 180 lbs (don't know what size bike I would need)
For bike needs: I would like something that I could take out on the trail, and also ride 5 miles to work over a logging road(big gravel chunks) and possibly do some mini jumps (when I'm advanced enough, no I'm not planning to kill myself yet)

any info would be MUCH appreciated!

If I were you I would get a CRF 150. It should fit you well and give you more than enough power needed, but at the same time, wont throw you off the seat. This bike is a four-stroke so it is more timid than a two stroke but it will allow you to learn the clutch much easier. This way you wont have to worry about being in the power band all the time. Good luck :)

P.S dear A K… its a logging road you fuck tard

I'm 5"9 and 145 and i'll be trail riding in the woods and mud.

I ride a Yamaha TTR250 4 stroke , Im the same height as you and find this bike takes me through anything , very easy to ride and a good height for me as well, shop around , I bought a 2nd hand bike that has been well looked after, have dropped it many a time and replaced a few indicators and levers but thats off roading for you ,most of all enjoy !!!
I am 5'11" 160 lbs and 23 yrs old. I want to use the bike for mostly off road riding, small jumps, and some street use as well. The main thing I'm looking for is simple maintenance and reliability. I hear that honda's are reliable, but not sure what size, year, model etc to begin with. I also was wondering why people say a 2 stroke engine is too difficult for a beginner.

I was looking to spend about $1500 on a used bike. thanks

I am nearly the same size an weight as you, and I ride a Honda cr250. It is a 2 stroke and believe me it is not exactly a beginners bike! I would definitely suggest a 4 stroke Yamaha or Honda bike. You wont do any better as far as reliability and rideability goes. Since you are a beginner I would suggest you go for a 250cc 4 stroke bike since it is the perfect combination of controllable power and still having enough to be fun. As you ride for a while you will probably want the power of a 450cc or a 250cc 2 stroke, but I would not suggest starting out on either of these bikes. Have a good time, and dont be discouraged on your 1st day of attempting to ride!!!!!!! If you have any questions feel free to contact me.
I bought a 97 ktm 360 exc on ebay about a year ago and I'd like to take it to some of the public trails in columbus, oh area but I don't have it registered and i don't have a title for it either. How should i go about getting it titled if i don't have any kind of bill of sale? Any help would be great, the private trails i've been on are getting boring.

Also, I don't plan to ride this bike on the road. It's strictly for off-road applications. I don't know if this matters I'm just trying to give you all the info. Thanks!

U need to register it for on road use, but for off road, not really

50cc if she's petite or short statured and not very adventurous, 100cc if she's tall for her age and wild. Keep in mind that you can restrict a faster bike, or you can tune a slower bike to be faster. No matter what decision you make for her, so long as the bike fits her stature and frame, you can make the engine what she wants.
And when did dirt biking start to get big?
Dirt bikes

The first all dirt only bikes were made in the late 40's to early 50's. Before that they used modified street bikes for early motocross competition and hare scrambles. I think that the earliest form of off road racing on a motorcycle was in the 1920's….
I'm in Rockaway, NJ and I would like to know of where I can ride legally. There are tons of woods around here but I'm tired of running from the cops.

Anybody?
