That really isn't the best way to find a dirt bike for sale that you are looking for. The likelyhood that somone would respond with one within your price range and within driving distance and the type you are looking is slim to none.

Your best bet would just be to go on ebay or craigslist. If there aren't any up, you could try looking under ebays completed listings at bikes that didn't sell and ask to see if they still have it and it's still for sale.

And one last thing, 2 stroke vs 4 stroke really does make a difference. the 2 stroke 250 would be more along the lines of a 4 stroke 450 powerwise. I'd reccomend a yz250f.

Considering the fact that the price of gas is outragous , and that dirt bikes have a smaller carbon footprint then most sub compact cars. Its seems like a win-win to me, I ride my dirt bike to work and the enviro-nuts get my suv off the road, use less fossil fuel and pollute less. Or will the EPA continue to pander to the enviro-nuts no matter what, even in the face of common sense.

No.

Since 2002 the EPA has required street bikes to meet their emissions standards.

Off road bikes are exempt from these emissions standards.

If you want a street legal bike, sell your dirt bike and buy a street legal bike.

If you are so concerned about the environment, dump your SUV. Use the money from the sale to buy a Prius. Take the money you will save on fuel and use it to make payments on a street legal bike. But somehow I don't think you will do this.

You are wrong about the myth that your dirt bike is less polluting than a car. Your dirt bike, with absolutely no emissions controls, spews out more pollution than any car.

I want to purchase a new imported dirt bike..I heard that chinese motorbikes are cheap….are they trust worthy and what about the aftersales service, repair and spair for them if one purchase that ….please help

Need a little advice… seems everyone i talk to tells a diffrent story. i'm looking for a dirt bike. i will be using it to play arround in forestry, dunes, trails etc. i'm not looking to race, but it'd be nice to gas it and hit a jump. i'm only looking to spend about $1500.00 as this is my first bike and i'd hate to lay down a $5k machine. i'm looking at the 250's. i am undecided as to 2 vs 4 stroke and model. it seems hard to find a 4 stroke in my price range. i dont mind maintenence but i don't want to have to deal with adjustments while i'm on the trail. i just want a good bike i can play with… one that wont make me wish i had bought a diffrent or better one right away. weight range of the rider will be 160 lbs. the hardest part of selecting is that i have only ridden about 1 hour on a bike so i cannot got out test driving bikes as i wouldnt know what to look for.any non bias input would be great!

Honestly you will have to look around and ask individuals or sales people. i had in the past a 2 stroke honda cr125, i loved it, now i have a 4 stroke suzuki dr250. basically a street legal dirt bike, it doesnt seem to have as much power as my 125 did but it does have equal power throughout the rpm range where as my 125 only had great power in high rpms during the powerband, all and all if it is trail riding and a little motocross and you want something cheap and easy to work on i would go with a 2 stroke, top end rebuilds are very easy to do, and there are plenty of shops around the country that work on 2 and 4 stroke motors. good luck!!
I dont have much money but if you wanna trade for a 2001 honda xr 70 let me know.

Go in to your local motorcycle shop and ASK a salesman. They deal with these every day. They can recommend something and you can see it for real in front of you. Take the boy with you. You do not have to buy anything! Then you can look in the want ads or place ads for a used one. I have many years of riding and have owned about 10 different bikes. I started on a suzuki 90. It was street legal. I bought a yamaha 90 enduro for my nieces and nephew. I took them out in the country and put the bike up on and old plastic milk carton making sure the wheels didn't touch it. This way after lots of DRY runs, I could start the bike up and then they could get the feel of shifting. When I was convinced they knew how to shift and could manage the brake ( me saying STOP at any given time while they were practicing with it running) then I could turn them loose in an open field. All of them did excellent with proper training. I would say start him on something like an 80 or a 90.

Good Luck!!!!!

I am the same height as you and was just learning a year ago. I bought a Honda CRF230F and with some help form my boyfriend, was riding in no time.
The 230F is very sturdy. I ran it into a few trees and it even ran off an embankment and flipped over backwards (i bailed beforehand) and it's still in one piece… minus a few scratches! It has a lot of top-end speed, so it's lacking in quickness… meaning its a fast bike when you get it up to 5th-6th gear, but it takes a while to build up that speed. This makes for a very unitimidating engine thats perfect for a beginner and great for just putting around the backyard or through the woods. Believe me, it's still a fun bike to learn on!
The seat height is just right. The only problem may be weight, it is a bit on the heavy side due to the indestructible steel frame. You may want to opt for the 150F if you don't have much upperbody strength, especially if you'll be out w/o anyone to help you get the bike back up if you do fall.
Either way, Honda is a great brand and keeps a good resale value if you change your mind about riding. Whatever brand you end up with, you will definitely want to get a 4-stroke off-road bike (not a motocross racer)
Can I get one for like $50.00 or am I going to have to spend more? (I live in Michigan if that helps)

I would not let anyone wear a helmet that only cost $50 as your head is worth more than that.

Make sure you purchase new so you know the helmet has not had an impact and make sure you try them on and are helped by a salesman who knows how to fit helmets. It is one of the most important items that you have to purchase so don't scimp on it as your life is worth more than that.

My son has a rack of used helmets and only a few of them look damaged. But they have all had a major impact so are no longer used by him. It costs us a fortune but his head is worth it.
