PS:I'm looking for something that I can take off road and play with not a super fast racing bike.

- Pick up Dirt Rider magazine. They always have a classifieds section and reviews of products and bikes, check out what they say are some good deals.
- Peruse your Sunday paper. People often sell second-hand dirtbikes in the paper, check that out. Make some calls and see what people have to offer.
- Hang out at your local track. People are ALWAYS bringing excess bikes to the track and setting them up with For Sale signs. Those guys know their stuff too so they will usually ask a fair price.
- Make sure you do your research. Talk to the gys at your local dealers and have them make suggestions for you. They can recommend bikes for the way you ride or tell you about features you might look for. That way when you DO find somehting for sale, you know what you're looking for and what to ask.
- Lastly, check out this website for tips, tricks and an online marketplace.

Good luck!

LOL i loved the it has a basket case answers Too funny!

Do not get discouraged, a good deal is not found every day, but you have to look every day and be ready to strike when you find one. Remember you may see hundreds for sale, but you only need to find one.
If you live in the Long beach Ca. area email me and I will give you one that needs repair.
look at:

www.recycler.com
good luck, be safe when you do get one.
remember following the laws is part of it your dad will appreciate, and bumps, scrapes, are part of it so your mom will be on you to be safe.

dude im fully aware what a ninja is. i considered getting it but then decided i wanted a dirt bike cus bikes like the ninja dont do well on dirt roads.

It depends a little bit on how tall you are but Yamaha makes a bike called a TTR 125 and Honda makes a bike called a CRF 125R.
Both of these are fun bikes and not too difficult to handle, if you are a little taller for your age or you get some more experience you can always move up in size to a 230cc bike.
If you are a little shorter they make a 70cc bike. Go to your dealer and ask a salesman if you can sit on one. They will let you but you might have to bring an adult with you.
Then when you find the right one go and look for a used one. You will probably outgrow it so I wouldn't buy a new one. Then you can sell it when you get better and move on up to a big fast racer and stuff…
[;-)
Have fun….
Also, I don't plan to ride this bike on the road. It's strictly for off-road applications. I don't know if this matters I'm just trying to give you all the info. Thanks!

Thanks

What Size Dirt Bike Should I Get If Im 5’8″, 110lbs., And Am Going To Use The Bike For Trail Riding?

If you are looking for POWER and JUMPING, get a CRF150R or a KX100 (or YZ85 or CR85 for tight, small trails)
Pro's: They are the perfect size; not to small like the 85's, but not too big like the 125's. VERY light and quick
Cons: A bit rare, more noisy than trailbikes.
If you are looking to PUTT AROUND in local TRAILS with no intention of going fast or jumping (sort of boring if you ask me), get a TTR125L or a CRF150 trailbike.
Pro's: Quiet, more common, less gas consumption
Con's: Very Heavy, Sluggish, Poor suspension at best
Its up to you man, but I had both, and the trailbike is nowhere near as thrilling as the fast, light bike. Just don't let a sales person force you into buying a big bike you are not comfortable sitting on, or can't pick up when tipped over.
