I'm looking to buy a dirt bike for the first time, but I'm not sure what kind I should buy or what I should pay for it. I would like to know what you think a good dirt bike is and how much you think I should buy it for.
PS:I'm looking for something that I can take off road and play with not a super fast racing bike.

- Shop around. Go to the cycle shops and check out what the latest models and last year's models are going for. Compare.

- Pick up Dirt Rider magazine. They always have a classifieds section and reviews of products and bikes, check out what they say are some good deals.

- Peruse your Sunday paper. People often sell second-hand dirtbikes in the paper, check that out. Make some calls and see what people have to offer.

- Hang out at your local track. People are ALWAYS bringing excess bikes to the track and setting them up with For Sale signs. Those guys know their stuff too so they will usually ask a fair price.

- Make sure you do your research. Talk to the gys at your local dealers and have them make suggestions for you. They can recommend bikes for the way you ride or tell you about features you might look for. That way when you DO find somehting for sale, you know what you're looking for and what to ask.

- Lastly, check out this website for tips, tricks and an online marketplace.

Good luck!

I was looking around at some 2-stroke dirt bikes and like everything about them except for the fact that you have to rebuild the engine about twice a year. Seeing how I have no experience with rebuilding motors id most likley bring it to a shop. How much on average would they charge to rebuild a basic top and botom end on a dirt bike?

Every shop is different and you would only have to rebuild the bike twise a year if you rode it all the time every day 4-6 times a week. If you raced it totaly different story every other race is usally a rebuild. I have an older 2 stroke I ride it about 3 times a week average and I rebuild the top end every winter. New top end is about $45-$65 for wiesco piston kit. Basically a shop is the same only they'd charge labor also. Some shops even pick up the bike and drop it off for no charge which is handy. You have to call around your local shops…expect to pay about $150 for them to do it. It's not hard to replace a top end, do it once and you'll pretty much know how it works. Hope this helps
I wanna know do they sell dirt bikes in japan, like Honda,Yamaha,Kawasaki and Suzuki dirt bikes, are they cheaper than in Australia, can you ship them to Australia?

Don't know about the price differences between different countries, but I'd expect you can buy a Japanese bike in Japan. The actual models offered also may differ in different countries.
And is kinda common so i can get it at most bike shops
