Hey i am planning to save up for a dirt bike but don't know what to look for. I am 15 and a beginner, and now that i have a job i cam actually afford one. My dad is telling me to go with either a Yamaha or Honda, and one that is used. Any suggestions?

Agree with him, buy a larger one, and maby he will pay for a little of it after he rides it a 125cc-250cc is good nothing more
I weigh 120 lbs and I am 13 years old I am wondering what kind of dirt bike I should get and what engine size. I would like a new bike.

A 125cc two-stroke or a 250cc four-stroke would be a good choice for your age and weight. Choosing between a two and four stroke is mostly based on personal preference. Each has their own advantage and disadvantage over the other. The most obvious difference is that two-strokes require you mix your oil with your gas. However Two-strokes are also lighter than four-strokes and have a much simpler design. It usually costs less to modify and repair a two-stroke engine than a four-stroke engine. But two-strokes can also be finicky and a lot less forgiving than a four-stroke if you don't know how to tune it properly. four-strokes also have a more user friendly powerband, they tend to make more power than two-strokes on lower RPM's so it's much easier to putt around and go as opposed to a two-stroke which tends to like being revved high. I personally prefer a two-stroke over a four. But you need to decide which would suit your needs better.

Choosing a brand of bike is the same also, whether it's Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki or KTM. All manufacturers have their advantages and disadvantages over the other. Just keep in mind there's nothing that will affect performance, handling and reliability more than how you set your bike up, and how good of a rider you are. I've had friends on modified 250's and 450's get spanked by 8 year olds on 80's for that same reason.

So do some research and see which bike would suit your needs better. Once you buy your bike be sure to also get a repair manual for it and learn how everything works and how to properly set it up. You'll end up being safer, faster, and a better rider.

Good luck with your purchase.

I want to make it faster so can somebody tell me what to do with the speed governor nut to increase the speed of my dirt bike

You can find the speed governor nut holding on to the handle bars, learn to ride faster.
I am buying a pocket rocket which I already posted a question about that. And I am buying either a 250cc quad or 250cc dirt bike with a clutch. Which one should I get?

I would go with a quad. You are less likely to bail on a quad then on a dirt bike. Depending on your experience. But it will hurt alot more when you do bail on a quad. I just think there funner and better looking. Im going to be purchasing a 2007 Yamaha Wolverine. Have fun with your choice!!
Can anyone advise me on which Dirt bike to get for my 7 year old son, Its his birthday and he wants a bike I am not too sure what is the best to go for? I have been told about the PW50 but am not too sure if that’s too small for him or if a PW80 Would be better???

Any ideas would be of great help

He will love the PW50 but in a month he will be ready for a bigger bike. I would get the PW80 and watch his eyes light up. He should be okay on that size bike for many years and by then his experience level will be such that a 250 size bike would be good. I learned on a Yamaha 55 at age nine and soon outgrew it and went to a 175. thirty years later I'm on a 1200 and happy as can be. Tell him to be careful and let him enjoy his youth.
p.s. I wish I had a Mother like you!!!
I have a 2001 yamaha yz250.. what kind of fluid do you put into the radiator??? is it just basic radiator fluid or somethingspecial for dirtbikes?
Dirt bikes

Nothing special. You need to stick with whatever's already in there, or do a good flush. You can get some nasty results if you mix the wrong types. Dexcool is good for high temp engines like a bikes.
I have wanted on since I was two but I don’t know which one to buy I know how to ride clutch so that isn’t a problem.

Ive heard alot about dirt bikes regarding height and 2 stroke vs 4. I have never riden one and looking to start. I am 6 foot 2 but only 160lbs. Which bike is the best to buy, also 2 stroke or 4… I want a bike that i can learn on but be able to have enough power when i become advanced. I will be doing mostly trails. Thanks in adavnce.

4 stroke bikes these days have jsut as much power if not more than a 2 stroke, I suggest to get a 4 just because it'll be less matenance and great for a beginner. All the bike manufactures make good beginner bikes I like to lean more towards honda, and yamaha in the 4 stroke technology they are good. Anthing from 100-250cc 4 stroke will be a great beginner to intermediate bike or a 80-125 2 stroke. A 250 4 stroke can have to much power for a beginner especially if it's brand new, I have a new yamaha 250 and it's sick fast so I'd lean more towards a honda 150 4 stroke or something simular. I'm 6'3 and 185 so we're not much different in size and a 150 pulls me around pretty good.
Im debating between a 08 yamaha raptor se custom quad, yahmaha tt-r125le dirt bike, or kawasaki klx 140 dirt bike, im 14 and i previously owned a honda dirtbike
i had a honda dirt bike before but i wanna make a change which should i get

Kawasaki cause they last along time and go very fast lol 4 stroke tho cause then u can barly ride it if its a 2 stroke cause of the red stickers but ya there great bikes lol i have one and race it and i get 1st,2nd,3rd every time lol
I have been wondering this for years! I have a Insane 3 wheeler atc with a twin cylinder 2 stroke RD 350 (maybe 400 I forget) stretched frame and wide axle. also its a arm bar start. I know the motor is a Yamaha but the bike it self is not!
I heard that there was these company(s) back in the late 70 early 80s that put these out and every one wanted one supposedly these company (s) were making these better than Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki. but faded away in the early 80s? Does anyone no the name of these different company's??? I will feel kinda bad about using it for another project if its a true collectible. (put the motor in 1 of my mini YSR's haha)
need more details feel free to email me. Thanks!
Im hoping some of you older cats from the 70s 80s can chime in! thanks again
