All of the big 5 manufacturers make a great bike these days. My only suggestion would be going with a 4 stroke over a 2, but that's your call. If I were buying a new 250F right now it would be the KX-F, but I'd be happy with any of them. If I were buying a new 250 2 stroke for motocross it would be the YZ250, wouldn't even consider any other models. If I were buying a 250 2 stroke for the woods, definitely a KTM250XC-W.

depends how you are riding, if its serious racing i would say go with a four stroke my favourite brand is yamaha, but all of them are good, kawasaki’s are the most expensive to fix and ktm’s ive heard from friends and people they break down a lot and are expensive to fix, but if your going with a four stroke they will be expensive to fix to start off with. if you are going to race just for fun not competitive or trail or pits i would go with a two stroke, they are cheaper to fix, a lot more kick, lighter, and they are a lot easier to work on. i have a yz 250 now i had a yz450f before and my two stroke i like better in every way its a lot funner and has more power i am probably never going to go back to four strokes again
